Looks like Congress is holding hearings today in regards to certain bills that would forever change the face of the internet by censoring it. I object to this whole-heartedly. If we get censored like this, the internet will be a barren wasteland of nothing interesting. The reason the internet is so awesome is because there is a sense of freedom here that we cannot really experience in the real world. I mean sure, the internet it just a crap-load of computers put together, but by being able to surf to all these various computers with their different information, it feels like traveling from one galaxy to the next in one big electronic universe. You know what would happen if they managed to get the bill passed? No more Thatguywiththeglasses. No more Angry videogame nerd. No more awesome, stupid, idiotic youtube videos. This whole thing will end up just like the government's attempt to control alcohol during the prohibition, and look what happened then. People will make "illegal" content on the internet, whether the government likes it or not, and share it discreetly, and there is no way they can stop it. Why? Because when it comes down to it, we, the people of the internet, outnumber the government 10/1, they would have to arrest the entire millions upon billions of the internet community to ever get that bill to stand a chance. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if we did something like in the live-action Tekken movie (coming to G4 and reviewed by Spoony) where rebels create a secret internet away from the government's prying eyes.

Yes, there are powerful groups pushing for it: A/V industries, etc. There are also very powerful groups pushing against it: telecoms, popular websites, GOOGLE. They'll not take kindly to this, just as they didn't take kindly to COICA a while back.
