Goodbye G4TV

I swear, everything is feeling a little darker as the years go on. G4TV is now dead. No more Xplay or AOTS (don't really watch that show as much compared to Xplay but still had some good stuff in it). Those and ninja warrior were the only things I ever watch on that channel, because most of the time it will be Cops or Cheaters. Well, not anymore, from now, the channel will be a channel for metrosexuals! Yes, it will be a channel about travel, shopping and grooming tips for the young hip man on the go instead of a geek tv channel. Esquire channel. Wow. That is not what I want to see on my TV. I hardly watch TV nowadays because everything is just not as interesting as it used to be.

I used to watch sitcoms, actions shows, detective shows, science fiction shows, history and science shows, but now, every channel I feel are losing their way. I loved watching the science channel, history channel or discovery channel because they always had something interesting to talk about, but I guess their running out of ideas because now they have so many different auction shows or pawn shop shows and other reality tv shows that are just not interesting to watch. I used to watch Deadliest Catch and the one where a family digs for gold to escape destitution, but those aren't around anymore. Sitcoms just don't seem as good anymore, but maybe I'm just getting old and a lot more interesting things are on the net nowadays. CSI and Law and Order where fun, but nowadays crime dramas usually have some sort of weird hook like having a genius that can calculate crime probabilities or something or other, but I always felt the old stuff felt more honest. Scifi (or SYFY, soooo stupid) had some interesting scifi shows, but nowadays, not so much, and wrestling? Is wrestling considered scifi? Not only that, they have their own auction show and ghost hunters, which used to be good, but after a while, got really boring. I'd rather watch Ghost Adventures, even if I felt that these guys overreact, which is hilarious sometimes.

Well, that was a downer. Here's hoping that these channels know what they are doing =3

oh, that's sad. And worse, it's on Macintosh's birthday!

Channel started losing it's appeal when it got rid of Cinematech--It had all these promo vids from old or recent videogames... And then Xplay stopped being interesting when they moved away from their original content, focusing instead of the big three they seemed to only focus on one game or one system the whole episode... I was stunned to find that all the game demos and vids they had were gone when I checked OnDemand.

I guess its back to hunting for good stuff as usual. *sigh*

Yea, they had like 3-5 reviews per episode, but then after Sesler left, they tried to go all fancy and did only 1 or even no reviews at all and did stuff like talk to developers and other things. I do appreciate that they would talk to developers and all, but the show was all about reviewing games, not an information on gaming show. The reviews were always the fun part because of the ways they would insult the game or praise it, ussually in hilarious ways. And the sketches were awesome too, missed those.

I think the net has a lot of good stuff though, just gotta know where to look. I looked at Blisteredthumbs.com or Escapistmagazine.com, they have some pretty good stuff.

I enjoyed G4 for mostly xplay but my family keep changing
cable and dish companies.
But it's just that most of the games they talk about I'm not really interested in.
While the internet you can just search what you like easily.

Ye,a Xplay was ruined as soon Sessler left. He knew how to keep gamers interested in the show, but as soon as he left, the show started doing more in-depth in developers and other things and less on reviewing games, to the point that they didn't even review a single game in a couple of episodes that I've seen. Hell, when they start talking to a developer, I just skip that part. Save that stuff for a different show dammit! Oh wait, they did have a show for stuff like that, but that was long gone now. Know that I think about it, they deserve to be turned into the Esquire Channel, they didn't know what they were doing for a long time now.

I haven't watched xplay for years except only a little once last year.
I remember it was a Terminator parody I can't remember what happened.
Sorry if I'm not in the same page with you.
It's just I'm not a fan of most of the games they talked about at all.

why did that station die?

because the people in charge got lazy. Instead of trying to get more geeky programs on the air, even old stuff, they just ran stuff that don't make sense for the channel like Cops or Cheaters. Then, they got bought out by whoever owns Esquire magazine and now it will be the Esquire channel. Boooo!!!!!!
